Be that as it may, this program is defective, for imagine a scenario where the space rock broke into littler pieces and aggravated the activity even. In any case, another hypothesis is to jab at the natural structure off class by using mirrors, optical masers and explosives. This program has a superior chance of working, yet it despite everything may travel inaccurate. In the event that we are resolved to happen an ideal program, so we will. Be that as it may, this will take cut something we wear Ts have unnecessarily a lot of. What might go on if tomorrow you woke up and turned on the knowledge to occur out that a meteor was ve nturing out to hit the Earth in 24 hours? What might you make? How might you oversee it? Social Networking Sites free essay sample

Informal communication locales have brought a larger number of damages than benefits. † Do you concur? Long range informal communication destinations, for example, Friendster, Twitter and Facebook all differ somewhat, yet one of the fundamental component they have is that they empower clients to make a profile inside the site to speak to themselves and connect with different clients utilizing messages, texting and other incorporated correspondence channels inside the site. The ubiquity and development of informal communication destinations throughout the years has been monster. Today, there are just about 1 billion dynamic clients and more than 500 million portable dynamic clients in Facebook. As innovation of Web 2. 0 improves and advances, long range informal communication destinations biggerly affect the general public and human connections, both negative and positive. In any case, I can't help contradicting the announcement as I feel that the advantages person to person communication destinations have brought to its client exceeds the damages it has done. Long range informal communication site have made powerful correspondence simpler in the spread and passing on of thoughts to bring issues to light. We will compose a custom paper test on Informal communication Sites or on the other hand any comparable theme explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page It fills in as a vehicle for individuals to impart their idea and thoughts to a huge mass of individuals. A model is the Arab Spring, where many protestors in nations like Libya and Egypt tackled the productivity of correspondence through long range interpersonal communication locales by sorting out fights and pass on their musings and thoughts to huge mass of gathering so as to bring issues to light. Thus, person to person communication destinations speed up the procedure of correspondence by passing on thoughts to an enormous crowd momentarily. Also, person to person communication destinations have gone about as a crossing over stage between the administration and residents. In ongoing patterns, lawmakers over the world have utilized long range interpersonal communication destinations to speak with the individuals and set up more grounded ties between the initiative and the people. For example, during a year ago General Elections in Singapore, the different challenging gatherings and up-and-comers utilized long range informal communication locales, for example, Facebook and Twitter to sort out mobilizes and get criticisms from the residents. It was likewise a channel through which individuals communicated their help for different gatherings. Thus, long range informal communication locales have permitted the pioneers to be progressively interconnected with the people and had the option to convey all the more proficiently as well. Moreover, long range informal communication locales have likewise made a stage for individuals, even the individuals who are socially ungainly, to communicate and associate with a larger number of individuals than they would, all things considered. They were additionally ready to fabricate certainty and create relational abilities just as the capacity to manage individuals of varying characters. This is made conceivable through long range interpersonal communication locales, for example, Facebook and Twitter where individuals can communicate their assessments helpfully through remarks and â€Å"tweets† to other people, even outsiders without the need to have up close and personal contact. Accordingly, person to person communication locales have made an opportunity for individuals, particularly the individuals who are socially unbalanced or bashful, to have more associations with others and create social abilities. Likewise, not all effects brought by person to person communication locales are intrinsically constructive as they may prompt breakdown of correspondence. The scale and straightforwardness with which human communications are conveyed has without a doubt been extended and made conceivable through long range informal communication destinations. Notwithstanding, such development in scale caused the genuine estimation of connections and human associations to decrease. Person to person communication locales have made it workable for all of us to have hundreds, even a large number of companions worldwide yet connections on fabulous scale may not be attainable. An investigation completed by Robin Dunbar has offered ascend to Dunbar’s Number. This number, 150, is the recommended subjective breaking point to the quantity of individuals with whom one can keep up stable connections. Rather than healthy connection, the kind of communications that one has with companions in long range interpersonal communication locales have been censured as generally shallow and reserved. Accordingly, person to person communication destinations have likewise catalyzed an antagonistic kind of progress in human cooperation and may have weakened the quality of human connections. Taking everything into account, I feel that person to person communication has brought a greater number of advantages than hurts as it has made the world increasingly interconnected. Thoughts and musings had the option to be passed on to others effectively on account of long range informal communication locales. It likewise gave chances to individuals who are socially ungainly and modest to communicate and their assessments through informal communication destinations before venturing out of their usual range of familiarity. All things considered, we ought not mistake such simplicity for real relational abilities. It very well may be adverse if correspondence and cooperations through long range informal communication locales were to totally supplant associating with individuals, all things considered. Definitely our friends and family merit something other than a Facebook divider post.

SoundCloud - Strategies for Distributing Your Music

SoundCloud - Strategies for Distributing Your Music © Shutterstock.com | Denys PrykhodovIn this article, we will look at 1) what is Soundcloud?, 2) how to list successfully on Soundcloud, 3) advantages and disadvantages of using Soundcloud, and 4) Soundcloud success stories.WHAT IS SOUNDCLOUD?The CompanyAn online music and audio streaming platform, Soundcloud is based in Berlin, Germany. The website allows users to upload, record, promote and share original music and sound. The website is basically a combination of a streaming service, an audio distribution platform and an online community. As of July 2013, the website had 40 million users registered and as many as 200 million listeners. The website allows musicians to share their original music directly with fans. It also allows fans to track their favorite artists and play music continuously. The website allows users to choose from three subscription levels. A free account allows 120 minutes of audio upload and makes a few stats visible. A Pro or Pro Unlimited account allows for mor e upload hours as well as access to extensive analytics. It also features a quiet mode which enables the user to hide any comments or stats on a music track.HistoryThough created in Stockholm, Sweden, Soundcloud was established in Berlin in August 2007. The people behind the website are sound designer Alex Ljung and artist Eric Wahlforss. The two Swedes initially intended for their platform to allow musicians to share recordings with one another. This eventually transitioned into a complete audio publishing tool, allowing these musicians to distribute their music to the fans. A little while after its inception, the website began to pose a challenge to Myspace which was, at that time, a place where musicians could distribute their songs and interact with their fans. The company received 2.5 million Euros in 2009 from a round of funding. The investment came from Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures. The company reached one million subscribers in 2001 and in 2011 received $10 million from the next round of funding. This investment came from Union Square Ventures and Index Ventures. The website continued to grow and reached 5 million registered users by June 2011. At this point, the company also received funding from an A-Grade fund run by Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary. In late 2012, the website was revamped with a new layout, this allowed simultaneous continued playback and site navigation. It also allowed for the comments to be read with disrupting the waveform. The company began talks with major record labels in 2014. The aim was to take preemptive steps to address the issue of product licensing due to copyrighted material that appears on the platform. This was done in an attempt to avoid forced takedown notices, a situation that Google and YouTube found themselves in.The Business ModelThe website aims to narrow the gap between discovery and engagement, which means that a person can discover a new sound or a music track and connect with the artist and a like-minded community right there, without having to move to another website etc. The business model relies primarily on subscriptions at the moment. There are multiple levels that a user can choose from. These range from a free registration with limited usage to a $630 annual fee that has many benefits and features for the professional user. This service has raised $50 million for the company. As the website grows, the management is experimenting with other potential streams of revenue. There is a turn towards possible brand partnerships. There are already content partnerships with companies that include Penguin Audio Books, CBS News Radio, The Huffington Post and some others. Content partnerships focus both on faster content distribution and an extended platform for experimental and unique experiences. As a major update to the business model, the website announced in August of 2014 that there would be advertisements running for listeners in the United States. The ads will roll out to other markets eventually. The aim is to help partner artists turn their music str eams into revenue streams. The change also includes the addition of the Premier level to the subscriptions. This will contain ad based options for monetization as well as other paid features that are already being offered. Ads will appear with licensed content. The Soundcloud USPThe website allows users to upload any sound file, irrespective of the size. Uploads can happen from an already saved file or created on the spot. The website also allows commenting throughout the track which makes it a unique type of social network.HOW TO LIST SUCCESSFULLY ON SOUNDCLOUDTips from UsersOliver Sadie is a Soundcloud user who is a London-based filmscore composer and classically trained pianist. With over 14000 followers, he believes that the community on Soundcloud is not just about sharing sounds but also about sharing common interests, goals and connecting with similar people. Some tips from him and others on how to grow your community on Soundcloud include:Make Good Music If an artist doesnâ €™t finish their work or remains afraid of criticism then there is very little chance of success in building up a Soundcloud community. An artist must force themselves to finish songs and spend time making them sound high quality.Understand What is Already Out There Sadie suggests listening to existing users to get an idea what who is out there and what they are doing. Search tools and groups are a good way to find sounds that appeal to you.Take Action When You Find Something You Like Once you like something, it is a good idea to like it and add it to favorites. Users can also leave a comment and follow the person who has listed the song. Often people will follow up after this and that just adds to the community. A well timed comment can initiate a conversation and a relationship is created.Follow People Who You Are Actually Interested In People often have a tendency to start following anyone they find. This is counter-productive because these people will not follow back. When si milar people are followed a relevant communication is established and people will follow back.Follow People who Are Active and May Follow Back People who are currently online or have been recently are more likely to be active on the website and therefore likely to follow back. An online user may follow back immediately. This is a very productive tip to grow one’s community. A balanced ratio of followers to following is a good way to assess whether a person is likely to follow back.Follow Peoples Followers When someone follows you back, it is a good idea to take a look at their followers and choose to follow those that fit the criteria mentioned here. It is enough to look at their top followers who are online at any point and just focus on those instead of the whole list.Be Online As mentioned, a person who is online is more likely to get followers. So it is a good idea to fo this regularly so that people are able to discover you.Leave Honest Comments It is a good idea to leave comments that are honest, relevant, useful and encouraging. It is a better idea to be more specific than just a “nice.” It is also not a good idea to mention something that reads like spam for example, “Nice. Listen Back.”Respond Whether it is a comment or a message, a response helps connect with listeners. A response to comments is always welcomed by a fan or a follower.Join Similar Groups Joining relevant groups and sharing music is a good way to be heard and discover new sounds. Moderated groups are a good option for this as helps keep the group on track.Start a Group It can also be a good idea to create one’s own group based on a particular theme. Relevant tracks can be traced out to invite to the group. Similar community members can be discovered and a space made available to trade sounds and ideas.Share on Social Media Other social networks are a great place to share favorite artists and songs.Collaborate with Other Artists Soundcloud allows users to share work s in progress through private sharing. Full recording quality is maintained and this is a good way to work with other people.Be Patient Building up a community is not something that can happen within a day or even a month. It is something that needs consistent effort and a lot of work. To make the network more meaningful and productive for the artist, this sustained long term effort is the way to go.Sign Up for a Paid Account Most users on Soundcloud use a free account. This works for people who want to use the service within the limits that the free account imposes. To get maximum music to a wider audience, a paid account becomes necessary. The reason for this is that a 2 hour upload limit is almost nothing for someone like a DJ. The tracks themselves are limited to 100 downloads only. These can become cumbersome after a while and it makes sense to sign up for a paid account.Use Tags Another useful idea is to use the right tags for each song. The right tags make the song more se archable and easier to find for people. Some ideas for tags include tags for genre, similar style record names, similar artist names, mood descriptions of the songs and well known songs by similar artists.Common MistakesIt is important for a successful Soundcloud presence that a good first impression is made. Some mistakes to avoid in this regard include:URL Consistency The URL extensions used on Soundcloud should be consistent with any others being used elsewhere on the web. For example, a Facebook extension facebook.com/BigBand, should be the same for soundcloud. This can be edited under the tab “Basic Profile.”Social Media Links Social media is a very important tool these days and a fan who finds their way to a Soundcloud page will often want to look up further details. For this purpose, it is a good idea to make sure that profiles are linked. Soundcloud helps this process by providing an integrated way to link social media. Thumbnail images are even available for the large r platforms.Complete Bio Though basic, an incomplete bio is a commonly made mistake. A complete bio should be between 50-250 words and should be followed up with contact information.Correct Representation of Work The most prolific work done by an artist should be listed on top and easy to reach.Uploading The Right Stuff All work done by an artist does not necessarily need to be uploaded. Instead, it is a good idea to put up the best work done by the artist to ensure that people who visit the page are left with a positive first impression. Any half-done or works-in-progress should not be displayed either, though there may be differing points of view on this.Labeling To ensure that a track is easy to find, all titles, artist information and keywords or tags should be correctly labeled.Genre The genre should be the first keyword associated with a track. The Soundcloud explore function indexes tracks according to genre and these are defined through the keywords specificed by the us er. Other important keywords include original artist, associated artists and record label.Use your Own Account In order to create an engaged and connected Soundcloud account it is imperative that a person use his or her own account to interact with others.Spam It is important to leave the right comments that are honest and relevant. It is not a good idea to leave spam like comments asking a person to follow back without any other details. An elaborate and constructive comment can act as the beginning of a conversation and direct people to a person’s account, eventually leading to relationships and followers.Being Responsive One commonly overlooked way to build community ties is to reply to any comments and messages received. This leaves a positive impression on people and direct them back to a user’s account. The replies should sound personal and not a generic response that sounds like a bot.ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF USING SOUNDCLOUDAdvantagesOverall, Soundcloud is a us er friendly website. Some of the advantages of using this site are:The website itself is smooth and user friendly and the phone app is also easy to navigate and use.The site offers users the choice of either uploading an existing audio file or recording it on the spot.Users can also share music and other audio file on other social media platforms by embedding them in social networks, blogs or websites. The files uploaded to the site can be of any size with no limits.A timed comment option allows users to leave a note regarding specific parts of an audio track.Submissions can be streamed through Dropbox, saving space on a desktop.Tracks can be easily reposted. Each music file gets its own unique URL address and its own page. There are dedicated groups which allows users to find the ones that are similar to their own interests. The smartphone app also allows upload and recording making the experience a flexible and mobile one.Tracks can be managed and organized easily.DisadvantagesSome di sadvantages of using Soundcloud include:The service does not allow editing or any additional effects. These need to be added elsewhere before upload to the website.Users need to be logged in to make a comment or follow users.Another disadvantamgge is the cost. A full package offers many benefits but it is costly to subscrive to.SOUNDCLOUD SUCCESS STORIESDJ ‘Mr Aker’ and His Soundcloud SuccessMr Aker is a DJ who operates out of his bedroom. Wind Energy as a Replacement for Fossil Fuels - 960 Words

The Issue Energy is an integral part of our daily lives. While organisms get energy to move from food, non-living appliances such as phones, lights, cars etc. get their energy from other renewable or non-renewable sources. The majority of energy consumed comes from non-renewable energy sources: fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal) and nuclear energy. In the past few decades, the issue of a potential â€Å"energy crisis† has arisen. Since people nowadays use such large amounts of fossil fuels, they will run out in the near future. Out of the three fossil fuels, oil and gas are the most widely used. It is predicted that, without taking into account the new reserves that could become accessible with the advancement of technology, oil and gas†¦show more content†¦Wind farms can be found either on land or offshore in either shallow or deep water. Smaller wind turbines can be found on the roofs of houses that just produce electricity for one household. How much energy a wind turbine prod uces depends on its size. Currently, wind power supplies just under 2% of global power, and has the potential to increase to 12-18% by 2020. It is the fastest growing power source, growing 25% each year. One World Issues The first one world issue that can be considered is environmental. Wind energy is beneficial to the environment, as it does not produce any waste, pollution and greenhouse gases. It has been found that the emissions eliminated in a year from generating electricity using a 1 megawatt wind turbine is over 1500 tons of carbon dioxide, 6.5 tons of sulfur dioxide, 3.2 tons of nitrogen oxides, and 60 pounds of mercury (â€Å"About Wind Energy: Factsheets†)—substances that are either greenhouse gases or cause negative health effects (â€Å"Health†) (â€Å"Basic Information†), or both (â€Å"Nitrogen Oxides (NOx)†. Wind turbines also don’t require water to prevent overheating, unlike other ways of producing energy. However, wind turbines can effect the environment negatively because they can ruin the landscape, as areas with high wind energy potential are usually very scenic. In addition to this, they can still cause noise pollution even though moder n technology has allowed them to become quieter (Cruden 46). The building or the enable place capacity cannot be changed. We will write a custom essay sample on Classwork or any similar topic only for you Order Now HER capacity can be reduced or substituted In rush hours with online self-lending machines. It would save payroll cost for the library and time for the customers. Office-cleaning service: (number of workers, equipment, technology,) In this case we should focus on those times when the demand is higher than the capacity. If there is too much work and we have limited numbers of workers than we should hire part time, cross-train workers In rush periods. Moreover we should ask the employee to time their day-offs after these periods. Also a possible solution could be to develop the skills of the workers (cleaning speed etc. And also a technical development would be also recommended to buy new equipment with which they can work faster but at the same level of preciosity. Support helpless: (number of lines or helpless) The main capacity what can be influenced is the number of helpless. It is really important for people to wait not too much time. The number of helpless can be Increased In order to reduce waiting times In lines. Also a technological development would be necessary If there are so simple questions, which can be answered by an automatic machine then it would be useful to introduce some self-servicing machines. This option would save HER costs for the company and also waiting times for the customers. 2. Select a service organization of your choice and identify its particular patterns of demand with reference to the checklist provided on slide 14. A) What is the nature of this service organization’s approach to capacity and demand management? We choose the Menages solarium company at Razorback Street, Pecs. Usually demands are lower in the summer and it is also fluctuating within a week. Weeken d demands are usually higher than the weekdays one. In their communication they focus on seasonal differences in term of the volume of the sunshine. It is a common thinking, that people with browner skin color are more attractive. B) What changes would you recommend in relation to its management of capacity and demand and why? In our opinion the company should make a shift in its communication in order to reach wider or different customer segment. For example for those who work through the summer, or working till evening, or people who don’t have a good self-esteem the company should offer special opportunities to use the service. If they can achieve these people as well, they can improve the usage of the capacity. Therefore the demand level would be smoother for the firm. They also can lower their prices before lunchtime to shape the demand. 4. Fate in Romeo and Juliet Essay Example For Students

Fate in Romeo and Juliet Essay Two households, both alike in dignity, / In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, / From ancient grudge brakes to new mutiny, / Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. / From forth the fatal lions of these foes / A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life; / Whose misadventured piteous overthrows / Doth with their death bury their parents strife. / The fearful passage of their death-marked love, / And the continuance of their parents rage, / Which, but their childrens end, naught could remove -The Prologue, Romeo and Juliet (by William Shakespeare). Fate plays a major role in the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. The prologue describes Romeos and Juliets fate, which we see come up many times later on in the play. Throughout the play, Romeo and Juliet unwittingly realize they cannot exist in such reality and that a tragic fate awaits them. The two families, the Montagues and the Capulets continue being rivals all the way to the end of the play until the inevitable event takes its place. In the play, there are many pieces of evidence that further present the prologues sad foretold reality. Even as early as the first scene of the play, we already see some evidence to back up the prologue. RomeoAnd makes himself and artificial night. (I, i, 38) This passage can be seen as the foreshadowing of Romeos suicide. Another line said by Montague, which is Unless good council may the cause remove (I, i, 140), also is evidence of Romeos tragedy. In the first act, Romeo is introduced. His great sadness is shown right away and the theme of love is seen as well. Through Romeos mellow mood we see how desperate he is for love. Romeo is in love with Juliet, which is the daughter of an enemy to the house of Montagues. Fate is definitely involved here, and this innocent love is the first step in a chain of events that lead to the fate driven tragedy. In the same scene, Tybalt is infuriated with Romeo. He is ready to kill him and believes that Romeo is his sworn enemy. Tybalt. This, by his voice, should be a MontagueFetch me my rapier, boy. What, dares the slaveCome hither, covered with an antic face,To fleer and scorn at our solemnity? Now, by the stock and honor of my kin,To strike him dead I hold not a sin.(I, vi, lines 54-59)And to even worsen the situation, Tybalt, says the following to his father, in the intent to show that he is not joking and that he is going to try and kill Romeo: I will withdraw; but this intrusion shall, now seeming sweet; convert to bittrest gall. (I, vi, lines 91-92) The two families rage here is shown and also fate takes its slow coarse and death is already foreshadowed. It is very important to emphasize at this point that the love between Romeo and Juliet cannot exist because of the rage between the two families. Fate is already taking its place. And this particular event, the first acquaintance between Romeo and Juliet, has started the chain of tragic events that shall eventually bring peace to the streets of Verona. Here is another passage which underlines the effect of Romeos and Juliets deaths: For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households rancor to pure love. Many times there are small reminders between the lines, of the tragic fate that the play is heading towards. Such one is this: Friar. These violent delights have violent ends and in their triumph die, like fire and powder, which, as they kiss, consume. (II, vii, lines 9-11) This line tells of sad reality and its consequences. As tough as reality might be, it gets even worse for Juliet and her Romeo. She has to marry Parris because her father wants her to do so. She now has to hide her love and secretly meet Romeo, so that no man in Verona shall know of their forbidden love. Crime Decreasing Issue Essay My life is better ended by their hateThan death prorogued, wanting of thy love.(II, ii, lines 77-78)And his love knows no limit:Romeo. With loves light wings did I oerperch These walls; For Stony limits cannot hold love out,And what love can do, that dares love attempt.(II, ii, lines 66-68)After Romeo kills Tybalt he shouts, O, I am fortunes fool! (III,I, 134) Here Romeo clearly understands the full impact of this tragic event on his future, and how everything that has happened to him after he met Juliet was not in his favor. Fate is so strong that it works within the characters, and Juliet says If all else fail, myself have power to die. (III, vi, 244) , once she sees how all the events lead to a tragic end. The rivalry between the two families is first introduced in the prologue and continues until the very end of the play before the death of the two lovers. In the first act the servants boys from the tow families rant and make jokes about each others masters and reveal the one of the major conflicts of the play. Fate is the driving force, that is set to stop the war between the two houses, therefore it is important to understand what is the motive behind Romeo and Juliets deaths from the prospective of fate. Many times in the play the two families have to confront each other in uncomfortable situations. Their first encounter that is seen in the play is after the prince has come to stop the chaos on the streets after being told of the quarrels going between the two families. Montague is all fired up after seeing Capulets men, and so is Capulet after seeing Montagues. Capulet. My sword, I say! Old Montague is come And flourishes his blade in spite of me.Montague. Thou villain Capulet! Hold me not, let me go. (I, i, 75-77)And so their hate continues to exist. Even after Tybalt is dead, and Mercutio lies beside him. The Capulets wife is not any better than her husband. After she sees Tybalt slain, she asks the Prince to punish Romeo, even though she is not certain how this tragic event came to be. Only at the end of the play, after their childrens death do they realize how unjustifiable their hatred was, and how meaningless it was to pursue their ancestors sins towards one another. Montague. There shall no figure at such rate besetAs that of true and faithful Juliet.Capulet. As rich shall Romeos by his lady lie-Poor sacrifices of our enmity!(V, iii, 302-304)In this exchange of apologies and forgiveness we see that both fathers are ready to put everything behind and honor each others child, for being messengers of love driven by fate to stop the cycle of hatred. That heaven finds means to kill your joys with love.(v, iii, 293)The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is fate driven. All the events that happen in the play lead to one major event, for which the play is said to be tragic, in which for most part fate plays a large role. Both destined lovers realize their love cannot be pure and simple, and that no matter what they do, it will be tragic. The two families, whos strife can only be stopped by the predetermined love of their offspring, seize the hatred between them.

How Ethernet Works Essays - Ethernet, IEEE 802.3,

How Ethernet Works What Is Ethernet and How Is It Used? ITSK2511 Cecil Jackson Invention of Ethernet A gentlemen by the name of Bob Metcalfe realized that he could improve on a system called the Aloha System which arbitrated access to a shared communications channel. He developed a new system that included a mechanism that detects when a collision occurs (collision detect). The system also includes listen before talk, in which stations listen for activity (carrier sense) before transmitting, and supports access to a shared channel by multiple stations (multiple access). Put all these components together, and you can see why the Ethernet channel access protocol is called Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detect (CSMA/CD). Metcalfe also developed a much more sophisticated backoff algorithm, which, in combination with the CSMA/CD protocol, allows the Ethernet system to function all the way up to 100 percent load. In late 1972, Metcalfe and his Xerox PARC colleagues developed the first experimental Ethernet system to interconnect the Xerox Alto. The Alto was a personal workstation with a graphical user interface, and experimental Ethernet was used to link Altos to one another, and to servers and laser printers. The signal clock for the experimental Ethernet interfaces was derived from the Alto's system clock, which resulted in a data transmission rate on the experimental Ethernet of 2.94 Mbps. Metcalfe's first experimental net was called the Alto Aloha Network. In 1973 Metcalfe changed the name to Ethernet, to make it clear that the system could support any computer, and not just Altos, and to point out that his new network mechanisms had evolved well beyond the Aloha system. He chose to base the name on the word ether as a way of describing an essential feature of the system: the physical medium (cable) carries bits to all stations, much the same way that the old luminiferous ether was once thought to propagate electromagnetic waves through space. Physicists Michelson and Morley disproved the existence of the ether in 1887, but Metcalfe decided that it was a good name for his new network system that carried signals to all computers. Thus, Ethernet was born. The Ethernet System This is a brief tutorial on the Ethernet system. We'll begin with the origins of Ethernet and the Ethernet standards, and then describe the essential features of Ethernet operation. Ethernet is a local area network (LAN technology that transmits information between computers at speeds of 10 and 100 million bits per second (Mbps). Currently the most widely used version of Ethernet technology is the 10-Mbps twisted-pair variety. The 10-Mbps Ethernet media varieties include the original thick coaxial system, as well as thin coaxial, twisted-pair, and fiber optic systems. The most recent Ethernet standard defines the new 100-Mbps Fast Ethernet system which operates over twisted-pair and fiber optic media. Ethernet is a Vendor-Neutral Network Technology There are several LAN technologies in use today, but Ethernet is by far the most popular. Industry estimates indicate that as of 1994 over 40 million Ethernet nodes had been installed worldwide. The widespread popularity of Ethernet ensures that there is a large market for Ethernet equipment, which also helps keep the technology competitively priced. From the time of the first Ethernet standard, the specifications and the rights to build Ethernet technology have been made easily available to anyone. This openness, combined with the ease of use and robustness of the Ethernet system, resulted in a large Ethernet market and is another reason Ethernet is so widely implemented in the computer industry. The vast majority of computer vendors today equip their products with 10-Mbps Ethernet attachments, making it possible to link all manner of computers with an Ethernet LAN. As the 100-Mbps standard becomes more widely adopted, computers are being equipped with an Ethernet interface that operates at both 10-Mbps and 100-Mbps. The ability to link a wide range of computers using a vendor-neutral network technology is an essential feature for today's LAN managers. Most LANs must support a wide variety of computers purchased from different vendors, which requires a high degree of network interoperability of the sort that Ethernet provides. Development of Ethernet Standards Ethernet was invented at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center in the 1970s by Dr. Robert M. Metcalfe. It was designed to

Promotion of Duracell batteries in Kazakhstan

Promotion of Duracell batteries in Kazakhstan Free Online Research Papers The explosion in the use of portable devices and electronic products such as laptops, toys, audio devices, etc. has resulted in a rapidly increasing demand for portable energy sources. However, the market of primary (non-rechargeable) batteries has shrunk over the past decade. This project is about a proposed campaign for encouraging people to use more of the declining product, reminding them of the forgotten need, on the example of the current market leader Duracell brand by Procter Gamble. Primary batteries are most commonly used in portable devices, usually when you do not have the chance to res can be CD, MP3-players, portable TV-sets, toys taken with children to picnics, lamps, and cameras. Our idea is to take out people to places where they need to keep their devices going but do not have an option to re-charge, that means encouraging them to travel to the nature: mountain trips, bike trips far from home, picnics with family, beach trips etc. It has gone out of the habit since people became too busy with their job, not having time to devote to their spirit, health and fun shared together with close people. The campaign will be directed to re-create this trend for country trips. This will be achieved by telling people how attractive are places around Almaty and they shouldn’t miss the opportunity to enjoy the sights on weekends. Competitive Analysis There are 3 major consumer battery brands presented on Kazakhstani market: current market leader Duracell, its closest follower Energizer, and niche player Varta, as well as many other less popular brands. Duracell is widely recognized, top of mind awareness brand. Most of our respondents named Duracell when it was asked to name any consumer battery brand that comes into their mind first. There is also recall connected to Duracell’s advertising, people easily recognize the symbol of Duracell – the famous pink bunny. It is also a market leader because it is available at points of sales, which is very important for low-involvement goods. Duracell batteries can be found in all sizes in most supermarkets, unlike its main competitor Energizer. Slogan of Duracell is â€Å"Trusted everywhere† suggesting that Duracell batteries make all devices work when needed and the range of Duracell application. The previous slogan was â€Å"No battery is stronger longer† pointing at longer life of the batteries. Generally all the bunny-related ads where directed to express the main message of longevity of work, this is the key benefit of Duracell. Energizer’s current slogan â€Å"Keep going† and former slogan Nothing outlasts the Energizer also emphasizes long working hours of the batteries. However, in its advertising campaigns Energizer has stressed high energy of the batteries making it the key benefit of the brand. â€Å"You’re smarter to fit Varta!† says the slogan of our last competitor. Varta uses ESP suggesting that it’s a battery by experts, something more â€Å"professional†. All the three brands share a common POP which is high quality and reliability. Duracell has to follow defensive strategy and increase its share of voice to maintain its leading position on the market. Target Market Analysis Generally, target market for alkaline batteries is both deep and wide. But it is even more. Almost every person is a potential customer for this type of batteries. In this case even segmentation is quite complicated. But it is necessary for creating marketing strategy, so we have to point out several biggest consumer groups. The first is households. Women between 25-50 age old, they keep their houses in order and use batteries for devices we use everyday such as clocks. The second and third groups we want to mention are teenagers and men. These customers differ in the age group, but are same in the purpose of consumption. They use alkaline batteries for high-tech devices. But now this market, that once has been extremely big and profitable, now rapidly decreases. It is concerned with technical progress. Now producers of high-tech devices use other types of batteries, usually rechargeable and often produced by these companies itself. Duracell uses differentiated market coverage. Different products of Duracell brand are targeted to different segments. regular and high-drain segments of the consumer battery market Duracell Copperhead covers broader market, including the general population who need longer-working batteries for majority of devices. Duracell Ultra is designed to fit more energy requiring devices, and therefore the target group is typically younger males. Communication objectives First of all we should define Target Audience. Duracell has different types of battery. The most needed types are AA and AAA series. Significant part of battery users is young generation that listen music by CD of MP3 players. This age starts from 14 years old till 25 even 30 years. Gender difference is doesn’t matter because everybody like music according his or her preference. Duracell is the top mind awareness brand on the World and Kazakhstan battery market. The competitors are: Energizer, Varta and Victory (Chinese battery). This industry is in the decline stage because of increasing use of rechargeable and integral batteries in devices like photo mobile phones, cameras, and players. Also, consumers are getting used to rechargeable batteries while they use laptops and phones, and bring this habit to their MP3 players and cameras. The main goal of Duracell is to raise knowledge, since awareness is already at hand. Battery is daily used, low involvement product. So this product requires product recognition at purchasing place. More products will be recognized better off the company. Because it is a low-involvement good stress should be put on the emotional rather than rational benefit from using the brand. Duracell should use following communication tools: Point-of-purchase promotion TV advertising Printed media in thematically related magazines (e.g. about technology) PR and sponsorship Internet Advertising On Kazakhstani market today Duracell is a stable leader with competitors falling behind dramatically. As it was mentioned before there is already well-established brand awareness, therefore all communication objectives should be supportive, only to maintain the image of the brand and keep it’s recall and recognition level high. 3.0 MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS PLAN 3.1 On a market where Duracell brand is well established it is important to retain its market position. At the same time, Duracell can encourage people to use more batteries by promoting our new campaign, through communication tools. The objective is to increase profit by 15% during in FY 2008. Marketing communications objectives So far Duracell has covered all the levels of the DAGMAR model: category need, awareness, knowledge, attitude, purchase intention, facilitation, purchase, satisfaction and loyalty. It has been a trusted leader for a long time. However, as we detected the market still can be penetrated by returning to the first level and developing category need more. The mission of the campaign is to get consumers to use more primary batteries by encouraging them to take part in activities such as traveling, hiking and camping. Our goal is to remind people of the forgotten use of the batteries – whenever you go outside (to the mountains, the beach, forest) you need non-rechargeable batteries vitally to keep all your devices going. 3.3 Positioning Duracell’s positioning is as clear and simple as the product category requires: long life of the batteries. 3.4 Creative and Message Strategy Key message: Duracell serves longer than any other battery and therefore can be trusted whatever direction you go. Slogan: Trusted everywhere Key visual: Emotional appeal should be used in Duracell ads, primarily to attract attention and be liked. 3.5 Marketing Communications Mix PR should be used primarily for the new strategy. 3.6 Media Strategy: Pulsing strategy 3.7 Media schedule (with calculations of effectiveness) (10points) Schedule should include all your tools of communication on all channels of com-on with distribution over the year, month, week and day period. 3.8 Budget (approach, actual calculations) Research Papers on Promotion of Duracell batteries in KazakhstanMarketing of Lifeboy Soap A Unilever ProductAnalysis of Ebay Expanding into AsiaBionic Assembly System: A New Concept of SelfHip-Hop is ArtOpen Architechture a white paperPETSTEL analysis of IndiaInfluences of Socio-Economic Status of Married MalesDefinition of Export QuotasAnalysis Of A Cosmetics AdvertisementThe Project Managment Office System

Carbon Emission Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Carbon Emission - Essay Example Some of the activities that take place for the carbon dioxide to be emitted cannot be easily avoided for involve daily essential activities that make the life of a human being complete. Among these activities include, burning fuel to provide warmth during winter, cooking, multivehicle combustion and other industrial activities. The earth’s temperature   has solely increased as a result of carbon dioxide was discovered way back in early 90’s after a series of argument between the parties who could propose and opposes but in the late 60’s they came to an agreement and research on how this gas accumulated commenced Martha 26). â€Å"Global warming is indeed a scam, perpetrated by scientists with vested interests, but in need of crash courses in geology, logic and the philosophy of science†. (Robinson 77). Due to this concerned, environmentalists have linked carbon dioxide as a gradually toxic gas capable of being responsible for the complete destruction of the universe in the future if caution is not taken. It is an air-based pollutant currently responsible for several thousand of mortality cases and introduction of other clinical conditions mostly respiratory (Robinson 77). Hudson (19) asserts that naturally before human being started industrial activities beyond natures control, the latter could regulate its own proportionality of carbon gases and the oxygen. Animals could inhale oxygen gases, and through reparation and decomposition, carbon was relapsed. This carbon having being a raw material for the formation of food by plants was taken from the environment. Unfortunately, because of human activities that have been characterized as an addition of more carbon in the environment and reduction of the necessary plants which could absorb these gases through deforestation. This has therefore, served as the major cause of an imbalance of these two gases proportionality â€Å"With all of the hysteria, all of the fear, all of the phony s cience, could it be that man-made global warming is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people?† (Hudson 19). And goes ahead to explain how the Findings from a research have suggested that, a rough estimate of more than 20,000 deaths in the whole world have been caused by air pollution cases are said to increase as the temperatures in the earth increase by 1 degree Celsius. The study went ahead and proved hoe carbon was correlated by the increment of temperature in the earth and therefore, concluded to be the prime Causer of global warming, and its mortality risk because of the ozone layer development was determined. As compared to the health experts, the environmentalists have blamed the carbon emission for this role played in the negative impacts of the environmental properties and consequently activities with them directly or indirectly involved (Hudson 19). The greatest effect her is abnormal temperature increase, which causes other effects like drying of wa ter bodies and swamps that significantly affects the life of plants and beasts that were initially suited for such weather. On examining and confidently concluding the effect of this environmental threat, governments mostly from the developed countries under different environmental related sectors, have come up with strict regulatory based on controlling the

What is mind Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

What is mind - Essay Example Mind and body belonged to the ancient dualisms in ancient philosophy, similar to momentary and everlasting, particulars and universals, and materialism and idealism. The mind-body problem is largely attributed to Rene Descartes, who examined how the ‘soul’ or immaterial mind could affect the material body. In contrast, monists view the mind-body dualism as absolute physicalism. This was the more concrete, real-world standpoint of Aristotle. Thus, two of the major philosophical perspectives known today are dualism and physicalism (Stewart et al., 2010). Dualism argues that the mind and the body are two absolutely distinct components, separate from each other. In contrast, physicalism argues that the mind and the body are fundamentally one and the same. This paper argues that dualism is the stronger philosophical standpoint. Dualism, within the philosophy of mind, is the belief that the physical and the mental—or body and mind or brain and mind—are, to a certain extent, totally distinct types of thing. Supporters of dualism state that the physical and mental domains have quite distinct features. Mental occurrences have personal, individual features like what does it smell like, how does it appear, or how does it feel like. Such occurrences cannot be seen as mere physical (Stewart et al., 2010). In Meditation II, Descartes demonstrates his own existence as a ‘thinking being’ or a ‘mind’. By the conclusion of Meditation VI, he demonstrates his body’s existence in his broader evidence of material aspects. The fundamental premise of Cartesian dualism is that body and mind are not the same but somewhat different, independent components (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, 2003). A vital implication of such belief is that the mind, as an independent component, could be in existence or still exist without the body. In contrast, critics argue

Homeless veterans in the US

Homeless veterans in the US WHO ARE HOMELESS VETERANS? Abstract It ought to be evident at this point that destitute veterans are not being served well by any means. On the off chance that the destitute veterans were legitimately looked after by our nation, the aggregate destitute populace would fall by more than forty percent over night. Destitute administrations would then have adequate subsidizing to move huge numbers of whatever is left of the destitute off the roads into transitional lodging with administrations that bring them again into the working populace. It would be a fantasy works out. If our nation would venture up to the plate, vagrancy in our nation would be essentially disposed of. Vagrancy among veterans is a real issue in United States. There are projects and administrations to help veterans, yet these endeavors are insufficient to viably address the emergency. This paper characterizes destitute veterans, analyzes their conditions, distinguishes current projects that address the issue, presents contentions for business as usual, presents contentions against the norm, and afterward closes with an ethical position. Thesis statement Destitute veterans are a real social issue confronting our general public today. Vagrancy among United States veterans are of specific concern to the general public in light of the fact that everybody sees a percentage of the weights confronting vets after coming back to regular citizen life. Who are homeless veterans then? The U.S. Division of Veterans Affairs (VA) states that the nations dejected veterans are male, with around 7.5 percent being female. The larger parts are single; live in urban zones; and experience the evil impacts of passionate insecurity, alcohol and/or substance sick utilization, or co-incident issue. Background Information The specialists accept that destitute veterans make up around 11 percent of the United States destitute populace. Veterans encountering long haul vagrancy are more inclined to be white to have a poor job history, to have side effects of mental and substance ill-use issue, and to have weaker social backing (Applewhite, 1997). Ladies veterans and those with handicaps including post-traumatic anxiety issue and traumatic mind harm are more prone to end up destitute, and a higher rate of veterans coming back from the present clashes in Afghanistan and Iraq have these attributes. Prepared volunteers with the 100,000 Homes Campaign overviewed more than 23,000 destitute Americans in 47 groups the nation over and discovered that veterans have a tendency to be destitute longer than non-veterans. Indeed, destitute veterans reported a normal of about six years destitute, contrasted with four years among non-veterans. The researchers acknowledge that desperate veterans make up around 11 percent of the United States down and out masses, which are around 31 penniless veterans for every ten thousand veterans. This figure is much higher than the rate of vagrancy in the overall population (Peterson, 1987). Veterans experiencing long term vagrancy are more disposed to be white to have a poor occupation history, to have reactions of mental and substance sick utilization issue, and to have weaker social support. There is stress over whats to come. Women veterans and those with debilitations including post-traumatic uneasiness issue and traumatic personality damage are more inclined to wind up dejected and a higher rate of veterans returning from the present conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq has these traits (Bascetta, 2005). Arranged volunteers with the 100,000 Homes Campaign diagramed more than 23,000 down and out Americans in 47 gatherings the country over and found that veterans tend to be penniless longer than non-veterans. Undoubtedly, penniless veterans reported an ordinary of around six years down and out, appeared differently in relation to four years among non-veterans. The Main Body Veterans are 50% more inclined to end up destitute than different Americans because of neediness, absence of bolster systems, and grim living conditions in packed or substandard lodging. Around 1.5 million veterans are considered at-danger of vagrancy. At danger is characterized as being beneath the neediness level and paying more than 50% of family unit salary on rent. It additionally incorporates families with a part who has a handicap, an individual living alone, and the individuals who are not in the work power (Baumohl, 1996). Exploration demonstrates that the most serious danger components for vagrancy are absence of bolster and social detachment after release. Veterans have low marriage rates and high separate rates; and, at present, 1 in 5 veterans is living alone. Informal organizations are especially essential for the individuals who have an emergency or need interim help. Without this help, they are at high hazard for vagrancy (Jasper, 2009). Ladies veterans face challenges that could add to their dangers of vagrancy. They are more prone to have encountered sexual injury than ladies in the overall public and are more probable than male veterans to be single folks. Truly, couple of destitute projects for veterans has had the offices to give separate housing to ladies and ladies with youngsters. How do Veterans get to be destitute? Our Veterans, the ones who serve in the United States Military, have battled for our nation and others. They have served us well by deserting their families and wandering off into obscure terrains like Iraq and Afghanistan to do right by us of them. We call them Heroes until they return home. Our Heroes return securely home from death and annihilation just to be made mindful that they are the same as any other person. Well if our Veterans are dealt with more any other individual than vagrancy wont separate. Our Heroes get back home excited to see their families and to begin a so call ordinary regular citizen life. Their psyches are loaded with recollections of seeing companions kick the bucket or recollections of taking an individuals life. The Veteran are faced with issues ranging from managing trials, tribulations and dissatisfactions of unemployment in view of absence of abilities and preparing which prompts exorbitant lodging to look after dep endability (McNamara, 2008). Vagrancy happens among families with youngsters and single people, in provincial groups and in addition vast urban communities, and for differing times of time. Contingent upon circumstances, times of vagrancy may differ from days to years. Transitionally vagrants are the individuals who have one short stay in a destitute asylum before coming back to changeless lodging. The individuals who are verbosely destitute every now and again move all through vagrancy however dont stay destitute for drawn out stretches of time. Chronically destitute people are the individuals who are destitute ceaselessly for a time of one year or have no less than four scenes of vagrancy in three years. Chronically destitute people frequently experience the ill effects of maladjustment and/or substance utilization issue (Nchv.org, 2015). Destitute veterans started to go to the consideration of general society while vagrancy for the most part was getting to be more normal. News records chronicled the predicament of veterans who had served their nation yet were living and kicking the bucket in the city. The usually held idea that the military experience furnishes youngsters with occupation preparing, instructive and different advantages, and in addition the development required for a profitable life, clashed with the vicinity of veterans among the destitute populace. With a specific end goal to fit the bill for support under the destitute veteran projects administered by Title 38 of the U.S. Code, veterans must meet the meaning of destitute veteran. Declining wages and increasing expenses of lodging have confused veteran vagrancy and have put lasting lodging out of scope for a few veterans. Giving these veterans Section 8 vouchers, or other comparative lodging vouchers, are viable approaches to get the veterans off the lanes (Peterson, 1987). Both male and female Veterans are more inclined to be destitute than their non-veteran partners in the same age companions. Rates of dysfunctional behavior and substance misuse and wellbeing issues, for example, HIV/AIDS, and hypertension may be higher among destitute Veterans. Conclusion Reasons for vagrancy among Veterans are like reasons for vagrancy among non-Veterans interrelated monetary and individual variables and lack of reasonable lodging. About a large portion of a million Veterans pay more than a large portion of their pay for rent. Dominant part of destitute Veterans are single; social disengagement is connected with higher danger of vagrancy (Rosenheck Koegel, 1993). Destitute veterans are a real social issue confronting our general public today. Vagrancy among United States veterans are of specific concern to the general public in light of the fact that everybody sees a percentage of the weights confronting vets after coming back to non-military personnel life. Genuine measures need to be taken to spare the fallen troopers from the hazards of a frantic life in the city of America. We should first comprehend the life of destitute vets to draw profitable knowledge into why customary endeavors at fathoming this issue are unprofitable. The general public needs to bring possession in living up to expectations with State and Federal Government to execute effective arrangements which create positive results in wiping out vagrancy among our veterans. Destitute female vets are frequently disregarded in current techniques and we have to contemplate this and create suitable answers for the overlooked sexual orientation. At long last, restoring vets to a ga inful part in the public arena is a continuous process and requires more than putting a transitional rooftop over their heads and rotating entryway recovery treatment (Sweet, 1987). Other psychological well-being issues that may bring about subjective disabilities challenges with focus or recalling errands, troubles in social connections or controlling temper or motivations, or different impacts that may make boundaries to business and stable connections. Veterans have a tendency to be more youthful and are more prone to have youngsters. Contrasted with destitute male Veterans, ladies Veterans are more inclined to have a background marked by sexual injury or genuine maladjustment, and less inclined to have genuine substance misuse issues(McNamara, 2008). Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care

Unit 1: Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care P3 There are a number of barriers to effective communication in health and social care. One of these is environment. If the environment gets in the way of effective communication, then the receiver may not understand the message that is being given to them. An example of environmental factors in a health and social setting would be a busy hospital being uncomfortably busy or loud. If a patient is in a busy ward and cannot relax due to excessive noise, phones ringing and people bustling in and out, they will not be able to relax or get any proper rest, which will affect their recovery. There can also be problems and barriers created by assumptions. If two people†¦show more content†¦However, due to rushing, they may not be as assertive as they could be and things may be overlooked or missed which can lead to further complications to the patients health and recovery period. If someone overlooked someones cultural beliefs in a care setting, this would cause a lot of barriers and clashes in communication. If a Muslim lady was in a residential care home due to a recent fall, and the care home did not ask or cater for her cultural dietary requirements (she may not eat pork for example) then this would not be a good example of positive communication, and it is also not respecting the individual enough to communicate with them on a personal level. Personality clashes can cause a disturbance to effective communication also. If a quiet and reserved care assistant is dealing with a service user who has dementia this would be a huge personality clash, should the service user happen to behave in an aggressive way towards the care assistant. Sometimes dementia sufferers can become aggressive or violent, and physically abuse those around them. If the care assistant didnt know how to deal with this and was too reserved to adopt an authoritative role, then the situation would not be dealt with and may go from bad to worse; resulting in somebody being hurt.
